Saw a Traffic Accident

This morning as Bay and I were on our daily commute, we saw an accident happen right next to us. There was a big van (looked like a plumber or some other service-type van) following us. It switched lanes as we were approaching some stopped cars. I usually brake a little early, especially with Bay in the car. It seemed to me that the van was braking as much as me, but as we were about 40 feet from the cars in front, I heard his tires chirp once, the van kept going, then another chirp right before it plowed into the car in front. That car then hit the SUV in front of it. I hate the sound of cars colliding. You know, it’s not a crash sound, but more of a thud. I keep thinking that Bay and I were lucky that the guy in the van got out of our lane just a few seconds before…

Father’s Day

I had a great Father’s Day! We went to eat sushi last night and got stuffed. It was my first time at the restaurant called Tanoshii, and I was impressed. The sushi was yummy (we mostly got rolls) and the yaki-udon was good too.

This morning Bay gave me the best presents! First, I got a giant BBQ lighter in the shape of a huge match. Then I got a toy supercub (Postal-cub) and after that, another supercub (Ramen-cub) and finally the last supercub (Soba-cub). They are totally cool! They even come with riders.

In the afternoon we went for ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. To my surprise, ice cream was free for all fathers! I had the Dulce de Leche Desire flavor. Later for dinner Mariko made chicken enchiladas and chipotle beef stew.

Photoshop Frustration

I am trying to create Bay’s Birthday card, but Photoshop is not cooperating. Right when I am in the middle of doing something, it crashes, sometimes it just reboots my computer. ImageReady works fine, but I can’t find the tools I need! I reinstalled Photoshop, but that didn’t help. I am using Mariko’s computer to work on it, so it should be ok, but that’s pretty lame that I can’t use Photoshop on my computer anymore…

TrekEarth Photos

I just became a member (free) of this great photo site called TrekEarth. You can upload your photos, and people can comment on the photos. The photos are from all parts of the globe, and most are really beautiful. I am planning on doing some new scans of slides and submit them to the site.

One other cool thing about the site is that you can keep a list of favorite photographers so you can check back later to see new photos. In addition to the critiques, there are workshops, travelogues, and discussion forums. Pretty cool.

Spam Hell

I get so much spam in my inbox at home. I have been adding email senders to my junk senders list like crazy so that the filter can put those in a separate folder. But my list has gotten so long that Outlook can’t get past that filter to run my other filters. So, I decided to delete my list of junk senders and start a new one. I was amazed to see how long my list was; it must have been about 500. It worked pretty well, until it just got too big. I’d estimate that 98% of the email that comes through my inbox these days is spam.
