Saw Another Accident

Today as Bay and I were driving to daycare we saw another accident. This one was less serious than the other one we saw. We were stopped in bumper to bumper traffic and I was comparing the size of a Ford Escape and the Ford Explorer that was behind it. My lane started moving, so I inched up. The Explorer also started going. The problem was that the Escape had not moved. So the Explorer just rear-ended the Escape. It didn’t look like there was any damage.

It’s funny how people can start accelerating without looking at what’s in front of them.

Running Again

I started running again last night. I got a new pair of shoes and headed out. I lasted only about 15 minutes. Today my legs are totally sore. Even though I could not run far, if felt good to actually feel my heart pumping and muscles working.

I remember back when my friend Mike and I used to run around UCLA. That was fun, I guess we ran about four miles every couple days. And in Japan Mariko and I belonged to a health club and I was running eight miles about four times a week. That was interesting because the treadmill I used was in kilometers, so it was kind of “new”. I don’t think I will be running that far, but I hope to run just as frequently, and bike too.

Terminator 3

Saw T3 today. It was a lot of fun. Some of the stunts were so over-the-top that they must have done them to just poke fun. Like the whole bathroom fight scene and using urinals as weapons. It was almost too much when someone gets their head smashed into a toilet bowl. But, they are Terminators, so they were ok. The scene where Arnold gets his set of clothes really sets the tone for the movie, which was a nice, funny touch in which we are told not to take things too seriously. I think it was a good action film with some neat stunts, and nicely destroyed cars.

Higashi Totsuka Mall

Mariko just sent me a link to the Aurora City Mall. It’s a new shopping area near where we used to live. It looks great! It seems that the neighborhood we used to live in is really growing. They had some good restaurants there, like an okonomiyaki place, a yakiniku restaurant, a gyoza restaurant, but now there are going to be lots more!

N!xau Dies

The star of The Gods Must Be Crazy died recently. Here is an article about him. If you haven’t seen the movie, you really should. It is one of the funniest films I have ever seen. The first time I saw it, I was with two friends. It was so bizarre that we had to watch it again right after. We were rolling on the floor rewinding parts and viewing over and over! The sequel was not nearly as funny… Now if only they would release the movie on dvd!

Busy Past Weekend

The past weekend was a fun one! My parents, brother and nephew came over for a visit, and celebrated Bay’s 2nd birthday with us. We did a bunch of fun stuff together, ate tons of food and played lots of video games. I will post pictures as soon as I recover. 🙂
