When did pajamas become the popular thing for girls to wear to the supermarket? Is this an Austin phenomenon, or are women around the country all putting on their PJ’s to go shopping? At first I thought it was just a college thing (Austin is home to UT), but then I started seeing women in their 30’s and 40’s wearing pajama bottoms to the market and started to wonder. Part of me thinks that as a guy, I should be all over it, but mostly I think it’s kind of gross. I am not sure why, though.

Nausicaa
Yesterday a box arrived from Amazon.co.jp with a bunch of books that Mariko had order, plus three DVD’s. We got Studio Ghibli’s “Umi ga Kikoeru” (ŠC‚ª‚«‚±‚¦‚é), Lion King 3 – Hakuna Matata (ƒ‰ƒCƒIƒ“EƒLƒ“ƒO 3 ƒnƒNƒiEƒ}ƒ^ƒ^), and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (•—‚Ì’J‚̃iƒEƒVƒJ). We watched about half of Nausicaa last night and it is awesome! What a great story so far! The animation is superb, of course, perfect Miyazaki. As we watched it, I noticed that it followed one of the two themes most Ghibli movies have: flying. Mariko thought that it also followed the other theme: girl’s panties. I disagreed on that point, as I thought Nausicaa was really wearing pants, but Mariko said that she saw panties… But anyways, the flying scenes are neat, and soundtrack is wonderful also. Unfortunately we didn’t make it all the way to the end of the movie, as it was past Bay’s bedtime… Oh well, hopefully tonight we can finish it.

Finding New Sites (ArtsyKen.com)
I love when I find or am told about a cool new site. It’s fun to look at a whole bunch of new content. Ken from ArtsyKen.com posted a comment a little while back, and I finally got around to going to his site. I am glad I did! There are some neat images from Tokyo there. I really like the design and commentary, but the photos are the things I find most interesting. Most seem very spontaneous and expressive of what you see when you are walking around the city. And many of them are taken with his keitai. So cool!
NPR Faces
I was browsing NPR’s site and came across the bio’s page for their staff. It’s really strange to see the faces of all the radio personalities I have been listening to for the past few years. Some look exactly like I imagine, like Carl Kasell, and some totally different, like Robert Siegel. I am also amazed that the list of names that are familiar to me is so long.

Fantasy Baseball Status
Well, after a fantastic first week, where my team ended with a 8-1 record, the second week is a complete reversal. I am currently losing 1-8. My pitching staff has been doing awful this week, with the exception of Kevin Brown. Last night, Pedro gave up 7 earned runs. I thought that I would be unbeatable in the pitching department, with a rotation that includes Kevin Brown, Pedro Martinez, Andy Pettitte and Greg Maddux. Oh well, the season is still early and I still like my chances in the long run.

MLB Audio
I have been enjoying the MLB Gameday Audio service this baseball season. I can listen to just about all of the games live over the Internet. It’s kind of cool to listen to the old Dodgers announcers again. The only problem is that I cannot figure out how to connect to it with my PocketPC so that I can listen to it in bed while I nod off to sleep. Hopefully I can figure it out with the help of the knowledgeable folks at Aximsite. If not, I will have to lug the laptop upstairs…
