Weekend

This weekend was cold and rainy. On Saturday we went to eat dim sum, which was very good as usual. I was stuffed! After that we went shopping at Old Navy and then checked out some furniture at the Rooms To Go. Then we stopped by Red Barn nursery where Mariko and Bay picked out some fresh herbs for the kitchen. That night we ordered Shrek 2 on pay-per-view and watched it before we fell asleep. Man, that movie was great. I gotta get it on dvd.

On Sunday, we tried a Mexican restaurant for lunch. It was pretty good, although they did not have carnitas on the menu. Oh well. I had the chorizo and eggs, and Mariko had a steak with green chile enchilda. Bay had a potato and egg breakfast taco, and ate all my refried beans. After that we went to Home Depot because they were having a big sale on area rugs. We didn’t find any that we really liked, so we returned home. We just stayed inside for the rest of the day, napping and playing. A pretty relaxing weekend!

Nomo to the Devil Rays

Hideo Nomo signed a minor-league contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays a couple days ago. He had a lackluster season with the Dodgers last year, and nobody expected that he would be back this year. I am hoping he does well, however. I always liked Nomo, and went to see him pitch a couple times back in the day. Mariko and I even went to see a Freeway Series preseason game at Dodger Stadium back in ’97 and he pitched a few innings. He’s the player who brought sushi and Sapporo beer to Dodger Stadium. For that we should all be thankful.

New Shoes

Yesterday I stopped by Whole Foods on the way home from work. I finished my grocery shopping quickly and found that I had a few extra minutes, so I decided to go next door to the local REI. I always go to the shoe rack that has returned shoes to see if I can get lucky. Well, yesterday I got lucky. I found a pair of Asolo Axis shoes in my size (8) at about $20 off the normal price. They are really comfortable, have a nice Vibram sole, and the tongue doesn’t stick out excessively, which is important. I don’t like it when the tongue catches the cuff of my pants, so that the cuff is behind the tongue.

I needed a new pair of shoes to replace my New Balance’s, which were getting worn out. The fabric at the inside wall of the shoe, just above my heel, was worn through, and a plastic support that had sharp corners was digging into my upper heel. I guess it wore out because I usually slip on my shoes without untying them. Now that I have a new pair of shoes that I can wear everyday, my New Balances will drop down the shoe hierarchy and be my new “mowing the lawn/gardening” shoes. And my Adidas that I used for that purpose can finally be sent to shoe-heaven. RIP

Long Night

Last night Koa woke up at least three times for formula. Plus Bay had an accident and we had to change him into clean pajamas… But I did manage to get a lot of sleep unlike the night before.

Kokia

My sister-in-law bought me a cd a while ago, and I have been enjoying it. It’s by Kokia and it’s called Remember Me. It’s got some nice songs on it, and she has a great voice. I usually don’t listen to many slower vocal songs, but it’s a nice change!

Sleepy

I was up until 1:30am working on a Movable Type re-install for Mariko. I had to delete everything, create a new database, and start from scratch. Luckily she hadn’t done any work on it yet. But now I am very tired…
