I got a 1GB iPod Shuffle the other day because they are coming down in price and I wanted something that I could carry around that I wouldn’t have to be so careful with. It’s a wonderful compliment to my 5G iPod, which is almost the exact opposite of the shuffle. I use the 5G when I want video or when I am in a “safe”listening setting, such as in the car or lying in bed. I have been using the Shuffle when in a “hostile” listening setting, like yardwork, or when Koa is around. 🙂 It basically comes down to the size and scratchablity of the two. I can put the shuffle in any pocket and not worry about it. With the 5G, I want to protect the screen as best I can, so don’t like to take it out of it’s little bag (yes, I keep it in a little black pouch that I found in my camera cabinet) if I am walking around. I kind of think of the Shuffle as just an extension of the earphones, it’s so unobtrusive.
