In 95-96, I worked for the Computer and Informations Services department at the Anderson School at UCLA. One of the people with whom I worked closely every day was Mike Kusunoki. Although I was (and still am, go figure) a few years older than him, he sort of took me under his wing when I began doing technical support. He already had that part of his career pretty much wired. He could use FastLynx to transfer files off of a dying computer to a healthy one like no one else!
Outside of work, Mike and I and the rest of the ACS bunch had lots of fun. After-work trips to Ramen-ya and Hurry Curry were always great. Mike and I also used to run together around the perimeter of campus, which was awesome. I still bug him about running, since he hasn’t in a while! But then he will bring up the time that I was a little tipsy in Westwood and walked into a pole and then almost got in a fight with some dude. Good times, as the kids say!
Well, that was long ago, but Mike has been at hard at work at Anderson ever since. His career has been going up and up, and he even attended and graduated from Anderson as a student in the FEMBA program. Yesterday I received an email from him. Mike is now CIO and Director of Anderson Computing and Information Services. I am so stoked for him! Mike is one of those guys who is super serious about his work, and totally dependable. This promotion is certainly well-deserved. Congratulations Mike!
