Running Log

5.0 miles at the Y.

It’s been a few weeks since I ran. Just busy, and not feeling so good. But I felt pretty good running today. The Y is way too crowded at 5:30pm though!

Guest Stop: The Salt Lick

We have a guest coming in tomorrow afternoon from out of state, which means I am cleaning the house today and tomorrow morning. But after we pick her up from the airport, we are going to The Salt Lick in Driftwood. I can’t wait! It’s my favorite BBQ place in Austin (actually just outside of) and I haven’t been there in a few years. I am totally gonna pig out! It’s great to eat bbq outside and have a cold Shiner on a warm evening.

Geek Media?

I was thinking that I should be in the demographic that is into Spiderman 3 and the Transformers movie. But comic-book heroes don’t seem to interest me. It seems like I was the only one who couldn’t care less about Spiderman 3 coming out. And some of my friends are way into anime, and it seems like I would be as well, but nothing really grabs me about anime that much. Kind of bothers me a little that I am so indifferent about these things. Should I be worried or even care? I am really wanting to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3, though. But that’s more of a mainstream movie, and not so geeky I guess. I did like the ninja movie Shinobi however.

Shinobi: Heart Under Blade

A year ago I posted about wanting to see Shinobi: Heart Under Blade. Well, I finally rented it from Netflix and watched it. At first, I didn’t like it very much. It was too slow and drawn-out. But I decided to watch the whole thing uninterrupted and I have come to like it quite a bit. The story is still slow-paced, but I think it really fits the movie. Even the action sequences were slow, but really well done. The fighting was pretty imaginative, and the ending is unexpected and satisfying. Very sad, actually, but overall it is a beautiful movie. The scenery is amazing, and the cinematography is top-notch. Artistic, yet polished and professional. I don’t usually watch action movies over again, but Shinobi might be one that I will rent again (or buy if the price is right) because it is such a beautifully filmed movie.

4AM

I rarely see the 4am hour. It’s just a weird time. Too early to wake up, and too late to be up. I guess I should sleep, huh.

Go Anteaters!

UCI always gets overshadowed by UCLA, but finally the Anteaters are on top. The UCI Baseball team defeated the UT Longhorns to become NCAA Division I Champs! Next, the team travels to Wichita State for a weekend series against the Shockers for the Super Regional Championship. The Anteaters are now ranked #4 in the country, their highest ranking ever.

Blender

The other day I found some old 3D renderings I did about 10 years ago. That got me itching to do some more, and today I found Blender, which is a really cool open-source 3D program. I can’t wait to try it out some more. It looks like a really cool program.
