Microwaving
I was in the office kitchen heating up my leftover yakisoba and gohan in the microwave when I started wondering what it would feel like to be microwaved. Like if you had a portable microwave “gun” and pointed it at your hand. Would it feel all tingly, or painful, or like nothing at all?
Gran Turismo 4
I have been borrowing a PlayStation 2 from my friend Chris for a while now, mainly to play FFX, but I popped in Gran Turismo 4 last night to check it out. I was blown away! I am way late to the ps2 party, but enjoyed the original GT on my ps1 a long time ago and I knew that GT4 was supposed to be amazing. But I didn’t realize just how awesome it is. The graphics are incredible! Totally blows away NFS:Carbon on my Wii.
For my first race, I chose a red VW GTI and hit the track at Nurburgring Nordschleife. It was tough to control, but the sound, graphics, and rumble made for such a nice experience. After I finished (in last place of course) I watched the entire race on the replay camera. Since I totally want a VW Rabbit, watching that car body race around the track was pretty fun.
This game looks so nice, it’s almost reason enough to buy a cheap ps2 just to play it. Of course a ps3 would be better, but that will have to wait! 🙂
London 2012 Olympic Logo
My friend Tony just sent me a link to the website of the London 2012 Olympic games. More specifically, it’s a page where the logo is described. I honestly think the logo is terrible. Looks like a wadded up piece of paper headed towards the round file. I think Tony put it rather succinctly when he said via IM,
“you know, the logo is supposed to be cool and get you pumped for the games – all this does is make me MAD!!!!! CRAZY MAD!!!”
Need to Carry Camera
I gots so many cameras. Why isn’t there one in my bag right now? Must fix later.
Hanayome To Papa Ep. 4-5
Aiko and Kanayama-san
The show continues to be entertaining. It’s turning out to be the kind of story I thought it was going to be, with the romance part happening slowly and the father’s acceptance kind of progressing along at a slow pace. The work part of the story is typical J-dorama fare, with some office politics and the inexperienced assistant’s dedication saving the day. I am always amazed how the writing can be so similar in all of these dorama. I guess I am attracted to the same types of story, so I tend to see the same plot devices over and over again. Still, it’s fun to watch. And there is a nice scene at Aiko’s house where her coworkers come over for a suprise dinner, and one of the girls gets totally hammered. It’s always fun to see a cute girl drunk.
One thing I forgot to mention in my previous review of the show is that one of my favorite actresses from Hana Yori Dango, Nishihara Aki 西原亜希 has a part in Hanayome to Papa. She’s Aiko’s sempai Kanayama Hatsune, and she’s kind of a bitch in these two episodes, but she comes around and it looks like they will have a good working relationship after all, since Aiko kind of saved her ass from being fired. Anyways, I await more subtitles so I can continue this series! In the meantime, I might have to watch some more Liar Game.
Shish Kebab Fingers
I made some shish kebab earlier today. My hands still smell like the spices I used. The food tasted good, but next time I will wear gloves when I skewer the meat.
Migraines Suck
Yesterday evening I was eagerly awaiting a nice pasta and mussels dinner Mariko was cooking, when I suddenly got the symptoms of an oncoming migraine headache. I had about 20 minutes or so before I knew I would be in a world of hurt. Plus I usually get nauseau right between when my blind spot goes away and the migraine hits. But the mussels looked so good that I said “screw it!” and ate a few before heading upstairs to a darkened bedroom to await my fate. Luckily I didn’t get any nauseau, but was in pain from about 6pm – 10pm when I finally fell asleep in the guest bedroom. The headache wasn’t as bad as previous migraines, but was still enough to be considered “disabling”. By that I mean you cannot possibly do anyting other than lie there moaning and writhing in pain. Basically the only thing for me to do when a migraine hits is to try to fall asleep, which can take a while, especially if it is in the daytime. Today I feel drained of energy and I can still feel a tiny headache if I shake my head.
For those of you who say you have migraines, but are not sure… then it probably is just a bad headache, not a real migraine. Because if you have a real one, you will know without a doubt. Just be thankful that you don’t have to suffer through the agony of a migraine, and if someone you know is having one, the best thing for them is to have some quiet or soothing sounds, and be in a dark room, maybe with a cool wet towel on their foreheads.
Cheese Singles
I don’t like sliced cheese that is individually wrapped. It always seems too slimy. And shiny too. Shiny cheese is weird.
